Buddhism as mind training
Buddhism is a mind training system. I’m writing this because it worked. But the last mile you have to walk yourself:
“What was the final revelation for the most penetrating Western philosophers from Hume to Nietzsche was the starting point for the Buddha.
The personality is polycentric and consists of a conscious layer and a gigantic layer of unconscious phenomena. Our ‘Self,’ as we’re used to understanding it, is simply a mirage — and an extremely dangerous one at that. It’s a primitive way of perceiving reality. The ego distorts the picture of the world and generates internal conflicts, clinging, ignorance, craving, and aggression.
The Buddha saw that we have the ability to achieve non-dualistic perception of self and experience. It’s possible to break free from egocentrism, and all people have innate abilities to take their mind to a new level.
From there, the Buddha moved on to the most important thing: the necessity of creating a method through which the mind can be purified.”
