Fear is made up

Let’s be honest. Nobody’s jumping out with a knife. It’s some made-up bullshit in your head – “what if something goes wrong.”

We accepted fear as a way of life

Strangely, we’ve accepted fear as our mode of existence. We’re surrounded by fear, and we freeze at the point where its pressure doesn’t feel as strong – like kids lying in the center of the bed so the monster can’t reach.

Why? Because fear gives the illusion of control. If I’m afraid of losing money – I count it. If I’m afraid of loneliness – I cling to relationships. If I’m afraid of death – I pretend I’ll live forever.

The biggest fear: ending up on the street with no money. Or losing what we identify with. But look – you identify with things that can be lost. Which means you’re already doomed to fear.

Time creates fear

Fear doesn’t exist on its own – it’s always in relation to something. To a memory of yesterday’s pain, to tomorrow’s uncertainty. But notice the mechanism:

You had pain yesterday -> you think about it -> project fear of repetition -> create future pain.

Thought generates fear. And fear attracts exactly what you’re afraid of. A closed loop.

In the present moment there is no fear – only action or stillness. Fear requires time to exist.

Masking and escape

We mask the fear of death by acting as though we’ll never die. Rationalization becomes defense. We escape into work, relationships, spiritual practices.

You’ve never looked at fear head-on. Instead – you reach for the phone, eat your feelings, drink them away, bury yourself in work. I can just opt out, you think. Movement away. But here’s the paradox: by running from fear, we give it power. The faster you run, the bigger it grows behind you.

Fear as energy

But what if fear is simply energy that we’ve mislabeled?

That energy is inside you right now. You called it “fear” or “anxiety.” But what if you just sat with it, without moving away from it? Without naming it – because the moment you say “fear,” it’s already in the past, already separated from you.

Watch what happens: fear disappears, worry disappears – the energy remains. The very same energy that was fear becomes presence.

The illusion of “I”

Here’s the key: Joy is who you are. Fear is who you’ve become.

Your true nature knows no fear. Fear appears only when you identify with temporary forms – body, thoughts, achievements, relationships.

Where there’s dependence, there’s fear. Depend on your job – you fear getting fired. Depend on a person – you fear losing them. But when you see the illusory nature of this “I” that can lose something, fear loses its foundation. There’s no one who’s afraid, and nothing to lose.

The biochemistry of liberation

There’s a biochemical state where fear recedes and self-compassion emerges. This isn’t a metaphor – it’s a real change in brain chemistry. When you feel strong, confident, able to speak without fear.

Primary existential fears run the entire survival mechanism. But when you see the game – choice appears. The divine game is dispassion toward fear. Not fighting it, but seeing its nature.

Right now

Traps on the way up: Fear and Seriousness. We take our fears so seriously that we forget – they’re just thoughts about things that don’t exist.

Meeting your greatest pain, your greatest fears – that’s what liberates. Not avoidance, but a direct look.

Right now, in this moment – is there fear? Or is there only the reading of these words, breathing, presence? Anxiety appears when the mind runs from this moment into nonexistent time.

Living without fear isn’t an achievement to be reached in the future. It’s a return to who you are right now, before all the stories, before all the masks, before everything made up.
