Setting intentions
Before psychedelic therapy, for maximum impact, you need to prepare not only the environment — the Setting — but also the state within — the Set. This means the mindset, the state of consciousness. By formulating, or better yet writing down a question, we help locate the disharmonious spots in our inner world. We open them up for insights.
— What are your intentions or desired outcome from this experience? What do you hope to get from it? — What personal processes or areas of growth do you want to clarify? — What feelings, relationships, behaviors, thought patterns, or problems do you want to address?
Common Intentions
Examples of intentions people set before undergoing psychedelic therapy:
— Personal growth and self-discovery: Seeking clarity, new perspectives, and deeper understanding of yourself and aspects of your life — relationships, goals. Heightened awareness. — Psychological healing: Reducing suffering by breaking free from entrenched thought patterns and overcoming psychological barriers, including defense mechanisms and trauma. — Well-being: Gradual healing and strengthening of the spirit through reducing anxiety, depression, overcoming addictions, and building resilience. — Creativity and problem solving: Finding innovative solutions for personal or professional challenges after accessing creative potential. — Forgiveness and letting go: Emotional liberation through releasing grudges and negativity, forgiving yourself and others. — Spiritual exploration: Developing a sense of harmony after diving into the depths of the inner world. — Connection: Deepening mutual understanding through strengthening the bond with yourself, the people around you, and nature.
Once the ever-chattering mind goes quiet, the answers become obvious.
