Dualism

The yin-yang symbol represents the interplay of opposites. Not two separate parts. Like sides of a coin. Like day and night — inseparable because they are part of the same cycle.

Yin and yang are complementary forces. Not static. Always in flux and transformation. What seems opposite is actually interconnected.

  • Yin is associated with darkness, chaos, and femininity. The hidden, the intuitive, the nurturing.

  • Yang symbolizes light, order, and masculinity. The visible, the rational, the active.

The small circle within each half — yin contains a seed of yang, and yang contains a seed of yin. Nothing is purely one or the other.

And the image is not static.
