Be Svendsen — Mount Nemrut
Norwegian producer Be Svendsen (Kristian Svendsen), known for his work on Bar 25 and Iboga Records, played this set on the summit of Mount Nemrut in southeastern Türkiye on June 13, 2021, for Cercle’s video series.
The tumulus sits at roughly 2,150 meters, built by King Antiochos I of Commagene around 62 BC as his own tomb-sanctuary. The summit is ringed by toppled, headless statues — 8-9 meter figures of the king himself alongside Greek and Persian gods — with the separated stone heads now lying at their feet. UNESCO listed the site as a World Heritage Site in 1987.
The set runs just over two hours, timed to catch sunrise over the statues, and closes with Be Svendsen’s own track “Nemrut,” made for the occasion.
