Awareness Games
Playing with Your Mind to Create Joy
A book of little experiments to run on your own attention — each one a way to catch yourself inside the vehicle of yourself, looking out. Joy as a practice field, not a reward.
Tom O’Connor is a meditation teacher working in the pointer tradition of Adyashanti and Rupert Spira. “Awareness Games” collects dozens of short exercises — questions and small experiments to run on your own attention — instead of arguments about consciousness.
A few lines worth keeping:
Imagine you are riding around inside the vehicle of yourself looking out at the world through the windows of your eyes. Imagine you are not the driver of your experience, but the passenger.
What if everyone in the world were doing the best that they possibly can? Including you.
On the contrary, if you forgive everyone, including yourself, of everything, you can’t help but love unconditionally. In fact, you will be love itself.
Seriousness. It’s easier if you don’t take anything too seriously.
Instead of self-improvement, try self-enjoyment.
